Landis+Gyr & BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme AG extend their partnership for smart heat meters until 2028.

Nuremberg (EN), July 25th, 2024.

BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme AG, formerly Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG, one of Germany's leading district heating suppliers with an impressive network of over 20,000 house connections, continues to rely on its proven partnership with Landis+Gyr. The cooperation between the two companies has already spanned more than 20 years and will now be strengthened by a new supply contract for the next four years until 2028.

As a supplier of ultrasonic heat meters, with the current T550 (UH50) device, Landis+Gyr plays a decisive role in district heating supply. The supplier was chosen based on a Europe-wide invitation to tender, in which technical and commercial aspects were central. BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme AG attached particular importance to maintainability, durability, and quality assurance, which further underlines the long-standing cooperation with Landis+Gyr.

A key element of the current T550 (UH50) product is the ability to operate two communication modules in the ultrasonic meter. This flexibility makes it possible to use your own communication structure and offer customers a wide range of options. Even before the German regulation on consumption recording FFVAV came into force in 2021, work had already begun under Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG to equip all devices with corresponding communication modules. Landis+Gyr was already able to easily meet this requirement at that time with the T550 (UH50).

Another highlight in the Landis+Gyr product portfolio is the T550 (UH50) as a QP 150 with an exchangeable measuring insert. This innovative solution enables easier replacement while the volume measuring element remains in the network. This leads to a considerable reduction in replacement costs and ensures that the measurement is quickly available again, which is particularly advantageous in urban environments such as Berlin.

Theresa Matthes – Head of District Heating Network Operations at BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme AG:

"Measurement accuracy and measurement stability are the two most important characteristics of measuring devices used for customer billing. We are pleased to have found a reliable partner in Landis+Gyr for the supply of heat meters as part of the tendering process, with whom all legal requirements for the provision of measurement data can also be guaranteed in the future. As an energy and heat supplier, we can thus continue to effectively support the achievement of the environmental and energy policy goals of the state of Berlin"

Johannes M. Koch – VP Heat & Water Metering Solutions and Managing Director Germany at Landis+Gyr:

"The long-standing partnership between Landis+Gyr and BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme AG is an outstanding example of sustainable cooperation and technological innovation in the energy industry."
