Landis+Gyr to Provide Solutions for Cyprus’ Smart Meter Roll-Out

Cham, Switzerland. – August 23, 2024 – Landis+Gyr, a leading provider of energy management solutions, will provide in excess of 400,000 residential E360 and E450 smart meters along with its leading GridStream head end system software solution to unlock the full potential of smart grid technology and support Cyprus on its energy efficiency journey.  

As part of a countrywide rollout to modernize the electricity distribution network, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is driving the rollout of 400,000 smart meters in the coming 3 years. The next phase of the rollout will include an additional 200.000 smart metering devices to ensure full coverage of EAC customer base. The EAC has awarded this strategic project to the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta), who is partnering with Landis+Gyr as a technology and solutions provider. 

During a press conference on 24 July 2024, the EAC hosted the Honorable Minister of Energy, Commerce & Industry, Mr. Giorgos Papanastasiou, the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Christoph Burgener, as well as Cyta's and Landis+Gyr's management and expressed the importance of the upcoming rollout as a key milestone in the government's energy saving goals. Landis+Gyr's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solutions, in conjuction with the SCADA/ADMS Distribution Control System and the metering data management system (MDMS) already installed by EAC, form the foundation for a competitive electricity market and are essential elements for realizing the benefits of smart grids.
